Julie

Professional Blue Badge Guide Julie Chandler is a Londoner born and bred, and her enthusiasm for London and its history comes from a childhood spent exploring the sights and attractions of London.

Prior to becoming a guide, Julie enjoyed a successful corporate career in the financial sector before deciding to pursue her passion for London, combining it with her love of history and walking to set up London Town Tours to share that passion for London with others.

guiding-badgesJulie’s background in the financial sector included 29 years with Barclays Bank plc, during which time she progressed from the grand position of ‘Junior’ to a Senior Project Manager in the property division managing refurbishment and construction projects. Along the way, Julie spent a number of years as a Training Manager, creating and delivering training programmes – all skills that she uses to ensure that you have an enjoyable, interesting and memorable experience.

Julie leads walking tours on a wide range of subjects, including Royal Secrets and Scandal, Follow the Fire, City Villains and Heroes, and Charles I and the Civil War – a tour that she led as part of the BBC documentary ‘The Stuarts’ in 2014. Julie also regularly guides in the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, British Museum, National Gallery, Windsor, Greenwich and other major visitor attractions.

As well as introducing visitors to London’s wonderful and exciting heritage, Julie leads tours for corporate clients (as social events or breakout sessions on team building days), clubs and associations, adult education groups and the National Trust. She also delivers talks on various aspects of London’s history to clubs and local history groups.

In addition to leading tours, Julie combines her guiding skills with her background as a trainer to train guides and staff at various visitor attractions to deliver tours, thereby enhancing their service offering for their visitors.

Julie is a member of the Institute of Tourist Guides, Association of Professional Tourist Guides, Guild of Registered Tourist Guides, City of Westminster Guide Lecturers Association (former Chairman) and the City of London Guide Lecturers Association.
